UOG Top Pick – Vasque Breeze LT GTX – featherweight but supportive for such a light boot. They feel very nimble but have enough stiffness to make them stable on rough ground. The rugged sole offers excellent grip and also sheds mud well.

Cutting edge design, helps offer an incredibly lightweight, traditional hiking boot.

Thanks to the award-winning Vibram® Litebase with Megagrip compound outsole, this boot is 25% lighter than its predecessors, and provides top-notch traction. The upper is engineered with a synthetic microfiber and abrasion resistant mesh for precise fit, and a TPU molded yarn mesh around the ankle contributes to additional structure and support without the weight of traditional leather. The use of GORE-TEX Extended Comfort technology delivers a waterproof barrier that is breathable, to keep feet dry with additional comfort.

Our Verdict

Firstly, these boots are incredibly comfortable, it helps they are so lightweight, but the footbed is also very accommodating, providing a lot of cushioning.  The Synthetic Microfiber, Abrasion Resistant mesh upper is not only hard-wearing but thanks to the moisture-wicking lining, they are more breathable than a traditional hiking boot, yet still provide good ankle support, without adding too much weight, which makes them a very good balance for those who want a light boot, yet still want the support and stability of a hiking boot.

The Vibram litebase sole is approximately 25% lighter than most Vibram soles and is a huge contribution to keeping the weight of the shoe so low.  As it’s Vibram they are also super grippy, even in muddy conditions I felt very confident in these boots, the flower-shaped lugs offer a lot of grip yet seem to shed mud well, so you don’t get bogged down.

 In terms of fit, I found these a little narrow and would suggest going up at least half a shoe size.
